How to carve this one

The black areas are what you cut away. White is the pumpkin you keep.

  1. 1. Print on plain paper. Hold it against your pumpkin and reprint at 50% to 200% if the size is off.
  2. 2. Tape it flat. Small cuts in the paper edge help it bend around the curve.
  3. 3. Poke the outline. Holes about an eighth of an inch apart along every edge.
  4. 4. Take the paper off. Then join the dots and carve. Never carve through the paper. It tears when wet.
  5. 5. Smallest pieces first. The pumpkin is strongest before you have cut anything out of it.

Questions

Is this stencil really free?
Yes. Click the download button and the PDF saves to your device. No email, no account. It is the same file format as every paid design.
Do I need special stencil paper?
No. Ordinary printer paper is what we recommend, because you transfer the design onto the pumpkin and take the paper off before you carve.
Is Classic Jack-o'-Lantern hard to carve?
It is rated Easy. Big shapes and few cuts. A child can do this one with an adult holding the tool. We measured every design for thin bridges and loose pieces before publishing it, so the rating reflects the actual cutting, not a guess.
Can I use it on something other than a pumpkin?
Yes. The same design works for painting a pumpkin, or for glass, wood and card. Nothing about the file is carving-specific.
