What we do

Every page has a skip link, one H1, real headings in order, and a language tag. Every image has alt text. Every button and link can be reached with the Tab key and shows a yellow focus ring. Touch targets are at least 44 pixels tall.

Colour and contrast

We measured every text colour against every background it sits on. The lowest ratio for body text is 4.6 to 1, and most are above 7 to 1. The difficulty meter never uses colour alone: the label and the number of filled bars say the same thing.

Text and zoom

Pages work at 200% zoom with no sideways scrolling. We test five phone widths from 320 pixels up before every release.

The stencil files

The PDFs are black shapes on white at high contrast, one design per page, with the design name in the page text so a screen reader can name it.
