An LED light is better than a candle in a carved pumpkin. It gives off no heat, so the lid does not cook and the pumpkin dries out more slowly. It does not blow out in wind, it lasts all night, and it is safe to leave unattended, which a flame never is.

- Yes. No heat, so the lid does not cook and the pumpkin lasts longer. No wind to blow them out. Safe to leave on all night.
- How bright should a pumpkin light be?
- A single puck light or two tea lights is enough for a carved face. Etched designs need more light, so use a brighter puck or a small string of lights inside.
- Do flickering LEDs look like a real candle?
- From the street, yes. Up close you can tell, but nobody stands up close.
- How long do battery pumpkin lights last?
- Most tea lights run 24 to 48 hours on one battery. Puck lights with a timer run six hours a night for a week or more.
